Why visit Lake Elementaita?

Lake Elementaita is a quieter Rift Valley lake and wildlife sanctuary positioned between Naivasha and Nakuru. Its open views, alkaline water, birdlife and relaxed pace make it particularly useful for travellers who want a scenic stop without the busier game-drive rhythm of a major national park. Kenya Wildlife Service identifies Elementaita as an Important Bird Area and part of the UNESCO-listed Kenya Lake System together with Nakuru and Bogoria. The lake is also significant for great white pelicans and other waterbirds. Its shallow water, surrounding grassland and hot-spring areas create a landscape that is especially appealing to birders and photographers.
